About John McManus

John McManus, founder of The Builder’s Daily in 2021, has developed TBD with a mission to empower homebuilding senior executives to achieve sustained high performance by connecting them with best practices, solutions, and tools that drive operational efficiency, leadership excellence, and customer satisfaction. He joins HW Media as the newly-acquired title’s Publisher, leading the development of HW Media’s homebuilding vertical — including The Builder’s Daily and the Focus on Excellence event.

 

John McManus’ Experience

 John McManus is a business-building, editorial, and digital content strategist, with four decades of award-winning experience in New York- and Washington, DC-based media organizations. He worked at Hanley Wood Media for 16 years, where, until mid-2020, he served as Vice President, Editorial Director for the Residential Content Group. In that role, accountability included Builder digital, print, and in-person editorial and programming portfolio, as well as strategic content direction and team leader management for Affordable HousingFinance, Aquatics International, Big Builder, Custom Home, the Journal of LightConstruction, Multi-family Executive, Pool & Spa News, Professional DeckBuilder, ProSales, Remodeling, Replacement Contractor, and Tools of the Trade. Prior to his joining the Hanley Wood team in 2004, John led editorial direction for Primedia’s American Demographics, Folio:, and Cable World titles. Earlier, he was the founding editor of Adweek Magazine’s BrandWeek, as well as working as a porter at Ad Age.
